Unlimited Data Plans: By Mobile Network

At present, you can get an unlimited data plan from 15 mobile networks in the UK. In the following section, we’ll look at the unlimited data plans on each network in more detail:

ASDA Mobile

You can get an unlimited data plan with Vodafone’s 4G and 5G coverage for £20 per month on ASDA Mobile. There are three different plans to pick from, each with a different maximum download speed:

  • The £20 unlimited data plan gives you download speeds of up to 2Mbps (equivalent to a basic 3G connection). It’s adequate for most everyday chores including browsing the internet, chatting, listening to music, and watching standard-definition video. However, you won’t be able to do things like stream HD-quality video. Downloads can also take a long time.
  • The £25 unlimited data plan gives you download speeds of up to 10Mbps (equivalent to a basic 4G connection). This allows you to broadcast in high definition and make HD video calls on your phone. You’ll also have an easier time downloading and sharing content on your phone.
  • The £30 unlimited data plan gives you download speeds of up to 150Mbps. You should choose this if you want to fully benefit from 5G.It allows you to do almost anything with your phone, like download large files and watch 4K ultra-HD video online.ASDA Mobile’s unlimited data plans are included in the table below:

BT Mobile

For £20 per month, you may get a No Limits SIM card from BT Mobile. However, you can only get this if you have BT Halo, the company’s top fibre broadband plan.

You can upgrade to BT Halo 3 online if you already have BT Broadband. This provides you access to home IT professionals as well as a “unbreakable broadband connection,” according to BT. This includes Hybrid Connect, which provides a 4G-based broadband backup solution as well as BT’s Complete Wi-Fi service, which guarantees wi-fi in every room. When BT’s full fibre broadband becomes online at your property, you’ll also get a Smart Hub 2 router and a free upgrade to it. Finally, you’ll be able to purchase the exclusive.

If 5G coverage is available in your area, BT Mobile’s unlimited data SIM card gives you access to it. You’ll also get unlimited calls on your BT landline at any time, as well as access to the BT Sport mobile app.

The service has no fair use limit on BT’s unlimited data SIM card.

This is confirmed in BT’s help centre:

Is there a fair usage policy for BT Mobile?

There is no such thing as a fair usage policy. So when we say “infinite,” we really mean it.

The only time this does not apply is when you travel to another European country as part of BT’s Roam Like Home package. You’ll only be able to use 50GB of data overseas for free in these 47 European Roam Like Home places.

EE retains the right to “apply traffic management controls to deprioritise your mobile traffic during peak hours or to switch you to a business plan” if you exceed the fair use limit of 600GB per month (this fair usage limit was 1,000GB per month for customers who signed up before the 1st September 2020).
  2. A maximum of 12 devices can be tethered or used as a personal hotspot.
  3. When traveling outside of the UK, you have a data roaming limit of 50GB per month..

Furthermore, if you utilize the Data Gifting option on an EE Family account, you can only gift up to 100GB of data to other people on your plan (or 120GB if you have a 5G handset plan with unlimited data).

There are numerous fair usage constraints to be aware of when picking an unlimited data plan on O2. The most significant is their 650GB fair usage limit every month. Tethering and personal hotspot usage is also restricted to a maximum of 12 devices. O2 claims they “reserve the right to move you to a more suitable plan” if you exceed these limitations twice in a six-month period.

According to O2’s rules and restrictions, you must use their unlimited data SIM card in a battery-powered mobile device. This is to prevent you from using your SIM card to connect to 4G or 5G home broadband:

3.3 Unlimited in the United Kingdom Data purchased through handset or SIMO contracts can only be utilized in mobile devices that don’t need to be plugged in to work. Any O2 mobile broadband Unlimited UK Data packages must be used exclusively with the devices that were sold with them. We reserve the right to move you to a more suitable plan if additional devices are used that do not comply with these rules.

You can use up to 25GB of data in O2 Europe Zone countries if you’re traveling to another European country. You can also use your O2 Travel Inclusive Zone SIM card in 27 countries across the world.

Three

From as little as £16 a month on Three, you can purchase a 5G-ready unlimited data plan (sometimes known as an all-you-can-eat data package).

In the United Kingdom, there are no fair usage limits for limitless data. Commercial use of the service, on the other hand, is not permitted:

Because it is against our Terms for Three Services to use our services for commercial, reselling, or fraudulent reasons, we reserve the right to monitor any unusual activity that may indicate this is occurring in order to detect and prevent such non-permitted usage.

When you use your phone in a Go Roam country, you are subject to a fair usage restriction.

You can use up to 20GB of data abroad in other European countries and up to 12GB of data abroad outside Europe.

Three’s £16 unlimited data SIM card is the most cost-effective option to acquire unlimited data. This is only accessible if you order through this link (it is not available through the Three website). A 24-month contract is also available, with the first six months half-price. However, this will result in a higher overall cost. You’ll pay £10 per month for the first six months, then £20 per month for the rest of your term (for a total of £17.50 each month).

You can buy a Three smartphone with unlimited data on a contract in addition to buying an unlimited data SIM card. Three also provides unrestricted 4G and 5G home broadband services.

Prior to September 2019, Three’s unlimited data plans featured a fair usage standard of 1,000GB per month (1TB). This fair usage guideline is no longer in effect on their plans, according to them:

There are no hidden caps or limits when using your smartphone within the UK if you have Unlimited Data as part of your service or as an Add-on. You can use the internet to your heart’s content without worrying about high expenses if you have unlimited data.

Because it is against our Terms for Three Services to use our services for commercial, reselling, or fraudulent reasons, we reserve the right to monitor any unusual activity that may indicate this is occurring in order to detect and prevent such non-permitted usage.

Tethering was similarly restricted on Three’s unlimited data plans prior to October 2018. During the time that this restriction was in force, tethering could only be used to use up to 30GB of data per month. As a result of Ofcom’s net neutrality laws, this restriction has been lifted for all new and existing subscribers.

Other Mobile Networks

The following networks do not currently offer an unlimited data plan:

If your network does not provide an unlimited data plan, you may be able to choose a large data allocation (e.g. 100GB per month).

  • Plusnet Mobile provides up to 20GB of data per month. Because they’re a low-cost sub-brand of the BT & EE group, it’s unlikely that they’ll ever offer unlimited data.
  • Sky Mobile offers a monthly data allowance of up to 60GB. Sky hasn’t said whether or not unlimited data will be offered on its network in the near future.
  • Talkmobile provides up to 100GB of data each month. Talkmobile, as a low-cost sub-brand of Vodafone, is unlikely to offer unlimited data anytime soon. Instead, Lebara Mobile, Vodafone, or VOXI provide unlimited data plans.

Alternatives to Unlimited Data

In some circumstances, opting for a package with unlimited data may not be necessary. Because the average UK mobile user only uses around 3GB of data each month, this is the case.

Consider SMARTY’s 30GB package if you primarily want the assurance that you’ll never run out of data. With no contract and no credit check, this will cost you £10 each month. For the ordinary user, it already has more than enough information.

If you only need unlimited data for a few apps, VOXI’s infinite social media (from £10/month) and VOXI’s endless video (from £15/month) are two options. This will provide you you a limitless amount of data to utilize in the following apps:

Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and Pinterest are just a few of the numerous social media platforms available.
YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, My5, TVPlayer, and UKTV Play are just a few of the video streaming services available.
